Alex Reethof

New American Cuisine

Alex Reethof has worked in and around the hotel and restaurant industry since 1974. At age 16 from a “pot washer” Chef Alex progressed in the industry to become Chef at some top fine dining restaurants around the country. Then came semi retirement from the culinary world for a period of time.

In 2009 he was “Coaching” the Wheeler High School culinary team at the Metropolitan Cooking Show in the Gallaria in Atlanta (Headliners included Paula Dean, Guy Fieri, Tyler Florence and the Neeley’s) when the program coodinator anxiously approached Chef Alex to “get Mike’d Up” and substitute for a missing on-stage chef presenter. He was a huge hit, and thus started Chef Alex into the world of Culinary Education and Entertainment or “Cheftainer” as we now know him.

Chef Reethof fills his catering affairs and cooking classes with entertainment worthy of any “On Air Food Show”. Delightful stories of days in hustling kitchens, coming up through the ranks, cantankerous head chefs, bumbling staff and obstinate party planners charm his guests as bountiful bouillabaise, titilating tiramisu and soul stirring stromboli fill their mouths.

As busy as Chef Alex is, he still gives generously of his valuable time. He organizes and hosts a "Good Eatin', Great Cause" event for the Safe Path organization and is often found working with disadvantaged youth around the city.
